Live Visual Accompaniment for Musical Performance
Collaborative performance | ATA, San Francisco
A series of short, silent films created as live visual accompaniment for a musician’s performance, exploring the relationship between image, atmosphere, and sound. Using original footage, the films construct dreamlike visual environments that respond to and amplify the emotional texture of the music without illustrating it directly.
Approach:
The films function as environmental presence rather than narrative, prioritizing mood, rhythm, and sensory atmosphere. Performed live alongside the music at ATA (Artists’ Television Access), San Francisco, the work created a shared immersive experience where audiences navigated between visual and sonic elements, allowing meaning to emerge from the relationship between the two.
